Mike Owen BA(Hons)
Mike joined us as a financial planner in January 2009 in order to develop business in the South East of England. He has been involved in the financial services industry since 1981, including spells as a consultant with Scottish Widows and as a partner in his own firm of IFA’s.
In 1986, he formed the trade association, the National Federation of Independent Financial Advisers (now the Association of Independent Financial Advisers), becoming Chairman in 1988, until 1991. During his stewardship, membership rose to some 1500 member firms.
In 1991, Mike formed IFA Portfolio Ltd as a sister company to the trade association, providing compliance, product, marketing and media services to the membership. He became full-time CEO in 1994 until the sale of the Company in 2001.
After publishing, media and consultancy work, Mike took some time out to qualify and work as an English language teacher, before joining Johnston Financial to provide our clients in the South East with his extensive knowledge and experience.
